Pre-Algebra with Mr. Dorman Pre-Algebra is my least favorite subject. I really dislike it because it is really boring and kind of hard for me. Even though I hate math, I am really good at it. I always do good in class and understand well. In pre-algebra we use white boards, clickers, and composition books. In our composition books we write down notes and our homework. Mr. Dorman usually makes us use white boards whenever we have a word problem. Whenever we finish the problem he tells us to hold up our board so he can see if we understand or not. We usually use the clickers when we have quizzes or when we do our warm-ups. We do warm-ups in the morning right when we enter the class. We can write them on a piece of paper, a whiteboard, or in our compostiton books.

Inequality
Inequality is the relation between two expressions that are not equal. To the left are the signs of inequality. Right now we are learning about inequality. It is pretty simple but, the hardest thing is the word problems. When we are assigned at word problem, we have to set up the equation ourselves. To set up and equation, you have to read the problem correctly. Here is an example of an equation of inequality.
5x < 10
This problem is pretty simple. Here is what you have to do. Since you are multiplying 5 by x, you will have to divide 5 by 5x, that will leave you with just x. Since we divided on one side we have to divide on the other. So 10/5 equals 2. Now the equation looks like this;
x < 2
That is your answer for the queation. Some people look at an inequality equation and think they cannot do it right away. But that is not the thing here. Inequality can be really easy or really hard. It depends on what the equation is. But inequality can be tough, but it can be easier if you think it through. Inequality is my favorite thing in math right now because it is so easy and kind of fun to do sometimes when I am in the mood.

Tutors
In computers class we took a little practice CST test for pre-algebra. The next day in my pre-algebra class, Mr. Dorman announced that we were going to start with tutoring. He had the results on the test we took in computers and if we got a green on a certain section then we could tutor or help other people in our class or got a yellow or a red in that section. I got 11 reds. I was obviously not a tutor for most of the sections, but I had to do some book pages and take a quiz to test if I understood the section correctly.
I was able to be a tutor about twice I think and I didn't really do much, because it was a pretty easy section and most of the kids in my class did not need any help with it. The first thing we have to do if we got a red or yellow on a section is do review pages in our mastery math booklets. After we complete the pages, then we show them to Mr. Dorman and if he thinks we got the hang of the section, then we go onto the quiz. In order to pass a section, you have to get 100% on the quiz or else you have to take the second quiz which is tougher.
Overall, I think that this whole tutor thing is pretty helpful. I passed most of the sections and I am doing pretty well in pre-algebra, if you say a B is good. I have passed almost all the needed sections, but I have a few more to pass. This tutor thing kinda helped me understand the whole section a little better.
